An Honorary Degree For A PA Radio Exec

Kerby Confer will receive an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania at Spring Commencement. Since 1969, Confer has owned an interest and operated over 200 station licenses and is still active in 70 properties.

Channel 3 in Memphis is reporting that WDIA host Bobby O'Jay died while he was at the station Tuesday morning. Midday host Bev Johnson told the station when O’Jay would open the phone line at 9 a.m., the radio station was only playing music.
