Heading the class of 2017 is the Voice of the Nashville Predators Pete Weber, 97 Rock’s Carl Russo, Townsquare Media Associate Commercial Producer Jim Pastrick, WLVL-AM station owner Dick Greene, and radio newsman the late Ray Marks.

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will hold the nomination hearing for Jessica Rosenworcel and Brendan Carr to become members of the Federal Communications on July 19 at 10 a.m. Both are likely to be approved and if so will give the Republicans a 3-2 majority on the Commission. Carr is a Republican and the former FCC Commissioner Rosenworcel a Democrat.

Cumulus re-signs talker Shannon Burke to a multi-year deal on NewsRadio 106.7/WYAY-FM in Atlanta. His weekday program airs 9 a.m.-12 Noon. Burke joined WYAY in July 2016, after winning over the station’s listeners as audience favorite in NewsRadio 106.7’s casting call, which was three weeks of auditions for Atlanta’s newest talk radio personality.

The incident took place Monday afternoon near iHeart's KISS-108 in Boston. A man walking near the radio station building demanded to hear a song by the Insane Clown Posse. He did not make it into the radio station and was shortly confronted by police at his vehicle where he also had several large knives.

WJBC-AM 1230 and 93.7 NASH Icon will continue as the flagship stations of Illinois State Athletics for another 5 years. The stations will provide broadcasts of all Redbird football and men’s basketball games in the greater Bloomington-Normal area. In addition, fans will hear all ISU women’s basketball broadcasts, and football and basketball coaches’ shows on WJBC-AM 1230.

Pai Hands Pelkey Press Secretary Postion

The FCC chairman has appointed Tina Pelkey as his Press Secretary. She will report to the director of the FCC’s Office of Media Relations. Pelkey most recently served as Senior Vice President at Black Rock Group. She previously worked in Brussels, Belgium, for Weber Shandwick, a global public relations firm. Prior to that, she worked at DCI Group and served as National Press Secretary for Senator John Cornyn of Texas.

Paxton And Oliviero To Work Together

Right now, Chris Oliviero is the EVP of Programming for CBS Radio. After the closing, he will retain that same title with Entercom. Same goes for Pat Paxton who is now President of Programming at Entercom. He keeps his title and both men will report directly to David Field and serve on Entercom's senior management committee. Paxton will oversee the music brands and Oliviero will oversee the News/Talk/Sports brands.
