106.5 KWHL/Alaska collaborated with the U.S. Marines to raise over $43,000 and received thousands of donated toys during their 25th Annual Toys for Tots toy drive. During the three-day event, December 13-15, the 106.5 KWHL on-air team broadcast live from 7a.m.-7 p.m. in the Toys for Tots RV in the SEARS parking lot.
KWHL Program Director Brad Stennett commented on the announcement, “People don’t realize this drive isn’t just for Anchorage, but for the entire state of Alaska. With the economy being so bad this year, and a major contributor no longer in state, we were extremely worried. Giving this year has been down and the need has been greater than ever. That being said, the community really stepped up in a major way and we could not be more thankful.”
