It took quite a bit of research, however, according to WTOP’s chief engineer Dave Garner, CBS took control of WJSV (the predecessor to WTOP) on October 20th, 1932. That would have made the station a CBS affiliate for just over 85 years. As of January 1st, ABC News Radio became the primary news source for WTOP. This station will run hourly network newscasts, updates at 30:30 and will be users of ABC news’ crisis coverage, ABC Newscall, correspondent two-ways and ABC News Digital at WTOP.com.
ABC will continue to be heard on their sister-station WFED, which provides programming of specific interest to federal employees.
