Entries Open For Radio Mercury Awards
As of Tuesday, January 14, the window for entries for the 29th Radio Mercury Awards is officially open. For 2020, the Awards has added several new prize categories.
Gracie Awards Deadline Extended
The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has announced that the final deadline to submit entries for the 45th Annual Gracie Awards has been extended until January 23, 2020.
Mason Exits EMF
In a post on his LinkedIn page Alan Mason wrote he's now semi-retired and looking for his next adventure. Mason was with Educational Media Foundation for 16 years where he's finishing a run as President.
Newberry Leaving NAB To Run Tech Company QUU
Steve Newberry currently serves as Executive VP for Industry Affairs and Strategic Planning at the National Association of Broadcasters, where he's been overseeing several major NAB projects. Newberry will exit the NAB at the end of March. Here's the company he'll be running.
Mackay Takes Over Austin For Entercom
Bob Mackay will take over as the new Market Manager for Entercom Austin January 27. Mackay moves to Austin from Houston where he was GSM for Entercom. He replaces Stephanie Callihan who ran Austin since 2015.

Like a bolt from the blue, insurance company Progressive has come from “nowhere” to land atop the Media Monitors list of radio’s leading national advertisers.
Four More House Members Support LRFA
The Local Radio Freedom Act, which opposes any new performance tax, royalty, or other charge on local radio for airing songs, has received the support of four more members of the House. There are now 205 cosponsors in the House and 25 in the Senate.
AURN Expands Into Podcasting With New Deal
American Urban Radio Networks has signed a partnership deal with Pod Digital Media, a full-service agency devoted to expanding access and opportunities for podcasters of color. AURN is now the exclusive sales marketing representative for the agency.
Greg Ried Out In Buffalo
Ried had been running the Buffalo cluster for 25 years. The Buffalo News is reporting that Entercom notified Ried while he was on vacation last week. The company says GSM Tim Holly is stepping in as interim Market Manager while a search is conducted for Ried's replacement.
