NYT Looks At Back To School
The New York Times has produced an audio documentary series about a high school reopening during the pandemic. Odessa is a four-part audio documentary series about the return to class at the West Texas high school.
Tavlin Promoted In Tampa
Scott “Scotty the Body'' Tavlin has been promoted to full-time Morning Show Producer and Midday On-Air Talent on HOT 101.5 (WPOI-FM). Scott will also join Cox Media Group Orlando sister station, K92.3 (WWKA-FM) as their night show host.
Pirates Stay With KDKA
93.7 The Fan (KDKA-FM) will continue to be the Pittsburgh Pirates flagship radio station. The station has been the flagship since 2012.
The Wynn in Vegas Adding Podcast Studios
A deal was announced Thursday between Wynn Resorts and sports podcasting network Blue Wire. Wynn is investing $3.5 million in the network and that will include a podcast studio in the lobby of the hotel.
What About That Triton Chart?
Since early 2020 Triton Digital has been producing podcast charts that include the top networks and the top shows. iHeart has never participated in the Triton charts, choosing Podtrac instead.
iHeart’s $42 Million in Q4 Podcast Revenue
It will be interesting to see if other radio companies follow iHeart's lead and reveal exactly how much revenue they are generating from podcasting. For the most part radio has been touting big podcast revenue increases but burying the actual number as digital revenue.

That's what iHeart CEO Bob Pittman said Thursday evening when the company reported Q4 and full year 2020 earnings. Revenue was down 9% in the 4th quarter, with broadcast down 19%, network off 16% and digital up 53%, including a 100% jump in podcasting revenue.
