(By Ed Ryan) I know, I'm starting to sound like a broken record on this topic (kids...a record is a round, flat, disk thing in which musical sound vibrates out of when struck with a tiny needle).

Hope Media Group, with stations in 7 states, and WAY Media, with stations in 12 states, have officially closed their merger. The company will be called Hope Media Group, be headquartered in Houston and led by Hope Media Group CEO Joe Paulo.

Local Baltimore online news organization The Baltimore Banner and NPR affiliate WYPR-FM in Baltimore have announced a joint operating agreement that will allow the nonprofit organizations to work collaboratively to deliver journalism across the state.

The rule the FCC adopted Thursday will no longer require FM stations to build a full-size mockup of an antenna or build a scale model if they want to apply for a directional antenna. The FCC has finally said using computer models is OK.

Mario Lopez will host the lineup for the upcoming Celebration of Service to America Awards program. Featured celebrity presenters include CBS Sports’ James Brown; co-anchor of ABC News’ “Nightline” Juju Chang; and Angela Yee, co-host of “The Breakfast Club.”

Morning Personalities Preston and Steve have signed a multiyear extension to their contract that will keep them on WMMR-FM through 2030.

David Santrella, Joel Oxley, Mike McVay, Buzz Knight, Ed Levine, Bud Walters, Alan Burns, and Lee Abrams are industry icons I admire, have worked with, and in some cases, competed against.

KTIS-FM in Minneapolis and Life 97.9 in Fargo simultaneously aired a two-day event recently and were able to find over 400 new Child Champions (sponsors) for children living in extreme poverty, through the ministry OneChild.

The area I lived in with my parents and 3 sisters was near what is now called the ‘Clubhouse Gate.’  We just called it the back gate.  As in, we couldn’t afford a house near the main gate.
