(By Randy Lane) There’s an adage in the film and television business that “if we don’t care about the characters, nothing else matters.” That holds true for radio and podcast shows as well. The likability factor is key to the audience caring about characters from the sweetest to the most lecherous and everyone in between.

iHeartMedia Phoenix and Arizona State University have signed a broadcast agreement for Sun Devil Hockey. Starting in October Fox Sports 910 (KGME-AM) will carry home games, select road games and a weekly coach's show.

Dana Cortez is ready to outwork you. She knows what she wants from her radio career, has high expectations of herself, and she's doing the work. Fresh off a Gracie win earlier this year, Dana is on the cover of Radio Ink Magazine this month.

The Chicago-Sun Times is reporting that the NFL's Chicago Bears will be looking for another station after the conclusion of this coming NFL season. The paper says Auadacy is losing money airing the games on WBBM-AM and WCFS-FM.

The Friends of Georgia Radio has announced its first four scholarship winners. The four student winners will be awarded $1,500 scholarship checks at the organization's RADIO BASH August 27th. Here are the winners...

On October 19th at the Javits Center, a special executive session called “One-on-One With Radio Trailblazers” will feature Urban One Founder Cathy Hughes and Beasley Media Group CEO Caroline Beasley. The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters will host the 46th Annual Fall Broadcast Conference in Washington, D.C. in October. The conference will be part of the 2022 By Black Conference presented by the U.S. Black Chambers and will include the Power of Urban Radio Forum.

Six groups met with FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel, Media Bureau Chief Holly Saurer and Sanford Williams, Special Advisor to Rosenworcel. The groups lobbied for the rule change that would allow broadcasters to target smaller communities with local content.
