RAB: Digital Now 14% of Total Revenue

The Radio Advertising Bureau and Borrell Associates have released new data that says digital revenue hit $1.1 billion for radio in 2020, an increase of 12% over 2019. They are also predicting digital will grow another 18% in 2021. The $1.1 billion accounts for 14% of radio's overall ad revenue.

It took 17 years for the issue of media ownership to make its way to The Supreme Court, and, according to attorney Helgi Walker, representing the NAB, it was 17 years of litigation where the Third Circuit was distorting the statute the entire time and a course correction is badly needed.

Pirate Fight Hampered By Lack of Funding

After complaining their "whack-a-mole" approach wasn't working, the FCC was finally given some additional tools to fight pirate radio stations in 2020, when The PIRATE Act became law. The Commission is now able to hit offenders with higher fines and go after property owners who allow pirates to broadcast. So why haven't we heard of many pirate shutdowns lately?
