Spotify has announced the expansion of its AI DJ feature to Spanish-speaking Premium users worldwide. Originally launched in English, the new AI DJ is the streamer’s attempt at a more radio-like music experience for Spanish-speaking users.
Spotify’s Head of Cultural Partnerships Xavier Jernigan was the first AI voice model for “DJ X” in English. Now, Spotify introduces DJ Livi, the new voice model for the Spanish-speaking audience. The feature mixes Spotify’s algorithms with a generative AI voice to create a unique listening experience, selecting songs and providing commentary tailored to individual musical tastes.
Olivia “Livi” Quiroz Roa, a Senior Music Editor at Spotify based in Mexico City, lends her voice to this new feature. Livi’s experience in curating popular playlists and her role in launching Spotify’s EQUAL program in Mexico made her an ideal choice for the Spanish AI DJ.
According to Spotify, Premium users who engage with the AI DJ tend to listen to more music and spend more time on the platform.
Livi is now available in the more than 50 markets where Spotify is already running DJ X, including the US and Canada. Rollout for Livi is expected for Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela in the coming weeks and months
