Stitcher, the podcast app and web listening service, will be shutting down on August 29, 2023. The owner of Stitcher, SiriusXM, is focusing on integrating podcasts into its flagship subscription business. SiriusXM paid $325 million for the company in 2020. It had been previously been owned by The E.W. Scripps Company.
Subscribers can listen to podcasts within the SiriusXM app, and a new listening experience will be introduced later this year. All podcasts currently available on Stitcher can be found on other podcast platforms as well.
Stitcher Studios and Earwolf networks will continue to operate, but the availability and accessibility of shows and premium content hosted on Stitcher will be determined by the hosts and creators. Listeners are advised to follow the hosts/creators on social media or subscribe to their newsletters to stay updated on the availability of their content. Ad-supported versions of podcasts can still be listened to on Pandora or other platforms where they are available.
