As many schools welcome back students, COVID precautions mean water fountains have been turned off. In South Portland, ME, a radio station has raided its prize closet for reusable water bottles to donate to the schools.

Saga Communication station Rewind 100.9 (WYNZ-FM) had about 500 promotional bottles that are usually given out at Summer events, but since those events didn’t happen; they will be put to a different use.

Kim Bennett, Assistant Principal at South Portland High School told AM Kickstart host AJ – “We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to have a water bottle, and if people don’t have the means or time to provide a water bottle, we want to make sure we can provide that for our students. It’s going to help so many kids and it’s one less thing that teachers and administrators have to worry about.”

About 100 more bottles were found in the prize closet of sister station 98.9 WCLZ-FM, and they were added to the donation.
