It Couldn’t Have Happened To A Nicer Person

It was 30 years ago that Mary Quass purchased her first radio station. She said at the time that she knew she would never have a real job again. She feels the same way today. On Wednesday, at the Radio Show in Dallas, the NRG Media CEO received the National Radio Award from the NAB for her career achievements and the impact she’s made on radio.

Quass is loved, respected, and admired by everyone who knows her and has worked with her. And in true Mary Quass fashion, she says receiving the award is really a thank you to all the people she knows and works with in the radio business.

Quass told the Radio Show luncheon crowd that everybody has a favorite radio station. “They have a personal and meaningful relationship with that radio station. Nobody else has that. Nobody else can replicate that. We have a bright future. I love this business.”

Mary Quass’ resume of success is a long one. She was awarded Broadcaster of the Year from the Iowa Broadcasters Association in 1994 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2014, she was honored by the Broadcasters Foundation of America with the Ward L. Quaal Leadership Award for her contributions to the broadcasting industry and community at large. Mary has also received the Mentoring and Inspiring Women In Radio Group Frances Preston Trailblazer Award, she’s been on Radio Ink‘s 40 Most Powerful People in Radio list, and has consistently been on Radio Ink‘s Most Influential Women in Media list.

She was also voted the best leader in radio by Radio Ink readers several years ago.
