Radio’s top ad category continues to struggle after years of record sales. According to several national reports U.S. auto sales are continuing to decline as prices for those vehicles. That means cheap car buyers are being squeezed out of the market.

First-quarter sales are expected to drop by about 2.5 percent from 2018, to 4 million units, according to J.D. Power and LMC Automotive.

The average price of a new vehicle is expected to hit $33,319, the highest ever for the first quarter. The average buyer is paying $1,000 more per purchase than in the first quarter of 2018.
