It’s the big game and that means big money spent on commercials. The Super Bowl may be the one program where viewers actually want to see commercials on TV. Well, the same goes for radio. Westwood One has the exclusive audio broadcast of the big game and for the fifth year in a row, Westwood has set out to find the best audio ads during the big game.

The Westwood One Sports Sound Awards will rank the most creative national audio commercials that run during Westwood’s Super Bowl broadcast. Listeners and a panel of advertising professionals are already being pushed to TheSoundAwards.com to vote for their favorite ads. Voting runs through Monday, February 5. The winner will be announced Tuesday, February 6. There are 50 commercials in the contest.

In 2017, Motel 6 won for best spot during the radio broadcast of the Super Bowl. LISTEN TO THE SPOT HERE.

“Brands want to reach consumers in a way that resonates emotionally, and a stellar way to do that today is with sonic branding,” said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Corporate Marketing, Cumulus Media and President, Westwood One. “Great brands use sound strategically to cut through the clutter and identify their values. From radio to podcasting to smart speakers, we’re working with our advertising clients to test and craft creative, so each brand is optimized to connect with hearts and minds, and drive ROI.”

“The Westwood One Sports Sound Awards celebrates audio excellence in advertising. At Ogilvy, we are constantly looking to push creative boundaries and invent new ways of leveraging sound as a marketing technique,” said Charles Brandl, Director, Ogilvy. “With opportunities to influence customers and prospects becoming more and more fragmented, it’s more important than ever to utilize mediums that help create recognition and drive emotion, and we have seen that radio and our partnerships with Westwood One have done that for us.”

Westwood One is the exclusive audio broadcaster of the NFL. This is the 31st consecutive year and the 45th time overall Westwood One will broadcast the Super Bowl.
