Tagstation, owner of the NextRadio app, announced on Tuesday that Samsung, the largest Android handset maker in the world, is the latest device to show its support for NextRadio by unlocking the FM Chip in upcoming smartphone models in the U.S. and Canada. NextRadio President Paul Brenner said, “Samsung should be lauded for taking this important step. They are providing their customers a more engaging, immersive radio experience and, as importantly, a means to connect with lifesaving information in emergencies.”

  1. This is the Samsung that is abusing its Vietnamese workers. But that’s okay as long as we get our phones. Radio is shameless. This has little to do with emergency services. If the chip didn’t help with emergency aid at all, even if it somehow hindered it, radio would still push for the chip because this is all about money and getting radio’s head out of the noose it put it’s neck in. Or rather, the corporations that have stolen radio from us. Absolutely no morals. And then every station that does so much as send eggs and milk in the wake of a disaster wants to advertise it for all it’s worth. Makes you wonder what their priority motives are.
