Was Radio Up 16% in October?

That’s what Standard Media Index is reporting. We’ll certainly see how that month plays out when companies report earnings in early 2018. At the end of Q3 most companies in radio reported limited visibility, certainly nothing like this type of increase. The entire U.S. advertising market rose 7% in the month of October, according to SMI, with digital growing 11%, national TV up 1% and radio rising a whopping 16%. SMI reported that telecommunications, automotive and financial insurance marketers were big for radio in the month. SMI also reported that through year-to-date radio is down 1%.
