Who Will Replace Francesa At WFAN?

Mike Francesa has been hosting afternoon drive, a lot of those years with Chris Russo, at WFAN in New York since 1987. He’s also been number one on the Radio Ink Local Sports Talkers list since that list was created. Francesa told Katie Nolan on her Podcast that he’s leaving WFAN at the end of 2017. Of course, that’s a long way away and anything can happen but Francesa has often complained about WFAN’s parent company CBS and he’s mentioned leaving the station on several occasions. So who would take his seat?

Both The New York Daily News and The New York Post speculated with stories about who would replace Francesa. On both of their lists was for Francesa co-host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, which The News called the obvious choice. “He hosted with Francesa for years before breaking out on his own following the breakup of Mike and the Mad Dog. He’s hinted at a reunion with his old partner — beyond their one-night shot at Radio City — and while that appears unlikely now, maybe he could succeed him. Russo’s contract with SiriusXM could be an issue, but contracts were made to be broken.”
