Detroit's 97.1 The Ticket (WXYT-FM) is adding Rico Beard to its line-up. Beard, with years of experience covering Detroit sports, will team up with afternoon drive host Mike Valenti.

Crash Kills Vermont Radio Personality

Amy McGovern, most recently midday host of KOOL 105 (WKOL-FM) died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening. The Franklin County Vermont Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation. 

Sandy Beach Leaving WBEN

Sandy Beach is ending his 23-year run on WBEN in Buffalo at the end of this month. Beach has been working in radio for 52 years. He broke into the business as a DJ for WKBW (now WWKB) in Buffalo back in 1968.

Ferrall is Back On SoCal’s Mightier 1090 AM

SportsGrid Radio Network, formerly the Fantasy Sports Radio Network, is bringing sports talker Scott Ferrall back to San Diego’s Mightier 1090 AM in August. Ferrall will host Coast to Coast live from 1-3 p.m. and Ferrall on the Bench, live from 7-9 p.m. 

Mat Mitchell Joins The Hubbard Team

Hubbard Radio Minnesota named Mat Mitchell Brand and Content Director for KSTP-FM (KS95). Mitchell was most recently with iHeart Radio in Phoenix where he was the PD for Top 40 KZZP, Hot AC KMXP, and Adult Hits KYOT for the past seven years.

Trump Appoints Salem Host

President Donald Trump has appointed Salem Radio Network host Dr. Sebastian Gorka to the National Security Education Board. Gorka advised the Trump campaign in 2016, and joined the White House in early 2017 as a strategic advisor on national security.

KEXP Making Changes

Seattle-based public radio station and nonprofit arts organization KEXP 90.3 FM is changing its line-up July 27. Other moves involve changes in KEXP's creative and content teams, and the addition of two new full-time leadership positions.

Charles Renwick Passes

Radio veteran and former Radio Ink Account Executive Charles "Chuck" Renwick has died. He had been hospitalized for pneumonia, complicated by oropharyngeal cancer.

WBAL Launches New Morning Show

Clarence M. Mitchell IV, known to audiences as C4, and Bryan Nehman have been paired for a new morning show on WBAL NewsRadio 1090/FM 101.5. The pair of Baltimore radio vets hosted separate shows on the Hearst station.

NYSBA Announces 2020 HoF Class

Two radio broadcasters have been named to the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. The 2020 class was selected from nominations submitted by NYSBA members.
