Fordham University Athletics will celebrate the life of New York Knicks analyst and alumnus John Andariese when he posthumously receives the Johnny Bach Award, Monday, October 30 in New York City. Andariese began as color analyst on Knicks broadcasts -- in a career that spanned four decades -- during the 1972-1973 season on radio, teaming with Marv Albert.

Integr8 Research released its third in a series of posts exploring how changing technology impacts radio listening. The company interviewed 3,140 15 to 39-year-olds who listen to a local radio. The latest research discovered that local FM radio stations remain the leading source for 15 to 39-year-old listeners to learn about new music.

Dwayne and Marilyn Banks, owners of Marilyn’s Gift Gallery in Waco, have been caught operating an illegal radio station from a commercial suite in Waco at 107.3-FM. The Banks were caught back in September by field agents from the Dallas office and had 10 days to respond to the Commission as of October 13.

It was a busy few weeks for the Federal Communications Commission Enforcement Bureau, rounding up another 14 pirate broadcasters (in addition to the gift shop in the previous story). Five were located in Florida, seven in Massachusetts, one in New Jersey, and one in Brooklyn. Here are the details on the latest round of illegal operators.

The Federal Communications Commission will meet on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. and item #6 on the agenda is the Elimination of Main Studio Rule. The Commission will consider a Report and Order eliminating the rule that requires each AM, FM, and TV station to maintain a main studio located in or near its community of license.

In supplemental comments filed with the FCC, the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council says the Main Studio Rule is bad for minority broadcasters because it imposes a greater disadvantage on broadcasters who entered the industry later and were unable to assemble clusters of stations that each shared the same community license. Tuesday was “Tax Reform Day at the White House,” and the Trump Administration used Talk Radio to get its message out. Salem Radio Network's Mike Gallagher scored the first interview with the President (WATCH HERE). In addition to Salem Radio Network hosts Hugh Hewitt and Mike Gallagher, Chris Plante from Westwood One, Brian Kilmeade of FOX News Radio, David Webb of Sirius XM, Chris Stigall of WPHT/Philadelphia were also at The White House.

The new music competition series is called: THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM. Fox Television will work with iHeart to support auditions and assist in the search for talent. As part of the grand prize, the winner will also be part of iHeartMedia’s On the Verge artist development program, which will support the winning talent with airplay across iHeartMedia radio stations.

As he signs a new two-year agreement with Reach Media, 2019 will be Tom Joyner's final year on the radio. From the press release: "Reach Media today announced a two-year agreement that extends the Tom Joyner Morning Show in radio syndication through December 31, 2019, as he culminates his trailblazing career."

iHeartMedia has announced the inaugural iHeartRadio ALTer EGO will be held at the Forum in L.A. January 19. The show will feature the biggest names in Alternative Rock including Mumford & Sons, Cage The Elephant, Beck, Spoon, WALK THE MOON, The National, and Dashboard Confessional, with more bands be announced soon.
