The NAB Education Foundation announced Tuesday the 2018 class of the Broadcast Leadership Training program. The BLT is the foremost executive training program for the broadcast industry, for which participants are selected through a competitive application process.

So who are the new co-CEOs now running the company ranked third in terms of number of stations owned behind Cumulus and iHeartmedia? Bill Wilson joined Townsquare in September 2010 and most recently served as EVP and Chief Content & Digital Officer of the company. Prasad co-founded Townsquare in 2010 and most recently served as EVP for Live Events.

As Radio Ink reported last week, Steve DiNardo was let go from his post as Market Manager for Entercom San Francisco. He had been with Entercom since 2012 and held the position of Market Manager in San Francisco since 2014. Entercom confirmed on Monday that former CMG Orlando Market Manager Susan Larkin is now running the San Francisco cluster.

His new title will be VP, Ad Sales. Fitzgerald has spent his entire 21-year career with the Walt Disney Company. He will oversee all aspects of ESPN Radio national network ad sales, including talk programming, event play-by-play, and Audio on Demand, which includes podcasts. 

According to Zenith Media's 2017 Advertising Forecast, smartphones and tablets, are now the primary way users access the Internet. Mobile will account for 73% of time spent using the internet in 2018, up from 65% in 2016. By 2019, Zenith predicts that number to grow to 76%. And, in 2017, 53% of all internet ad spend is taking place on mobile devices with that number expected to grow to 62% by 2019.

Among his many accomplishments, the longtime radio manager helped turn WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis into a powerhouse. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that Wheat died last Friday. He managed WFBQ from 1984-2006. He also managed sports-talker WNDE-AM and alternative rock station WOLT-FM for Clear Channel. He retired in 2015.

Alpha Media, San Jose is syndicating Brooke & Jubal for mornings on Mix 106 (KEZR) starting Monday, October 16. The popular hosts will continue to be based at Hubbard's KQMV Seattle.

A major move at one of radio's largest companies. Steven Price, Townsquare’s founder and CEO, will transition to a new role of Executive Chairman of the Board. Price founded Townsquare in May 2010. Bill Wilson and Dhruv Prasad have been promoted to Co-Chief Executive Officers and will report to the Board of Directors. Townsquare has 318 radio stations in 67 small and medium markets. Price has been on Radio Ink's 40 Most Powerful People in Radio list for seven consecutive years, reaching #5 in 2015.

In the wake of tragic losses brought on by the Napa Valley wildfires and similar destruction from recent hurricanes, especially in terms of lives, support for activation of the FM chip in cell phones has grown, placing the issue front and center not only with the industry, but among consumers, too. Now this industry needs to take this fight to the next level.

Up until now, when Entercom had been providing shareholders details about the merger (and filing documents with the SEC) the date for the special shareholder meeting has been left blank. Not anymore.
