According to Media Monitors, Wal-Mart aired 43,624 commercials on radio stations across the country last week, making the big box discounter the number one radio advertiser leading up to Christmas weekend. Macy's was number two with 37,000 spots, followed by GEICO (32,751), AT&T Wireless (32,290) and Amazon.com (31,612).

WQUD 105.5 Vintage Radio/Erie, IL, has hit one out of the park with their Slick Willy’s Second Annual Stuff for the Troops Drive. The Oldies station collected over 1,400 pounds of sundry items for U.S. troops serving overseas.

WNZR (90.9 FM/Christian AC) and WMVO (100.9 FM, 1300 AM/News-Talk-Oldies) in Mount Vernon, Ohio, as well as many individuals, businesses, and organizations rallied together to fight hunger in their community with the 36th Annual Knox County Food for the Hungry Drive on Saturday, December 9.

Dick Enberg got his broadcasting career started as a radio station custodian as a junior at Central Michigan, making $1 hour. The owner of the station also gave him weekend sports and DJ gigs. That catapulted Enberg to a 60-year long career which included hundreds of sporting events from the Super Bowl to the Olympics. He was found dead Thursday at his Southern California home. His family believes it was a heart attack. Enberg was 82.

Jon Lewis, a reporter for CMG's News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB in Atlanta for the past 20 years, passed away Thursday from complications following a brain hemorrhage he had over the summer. Miller is rejoining Westwood One to host a new weekday feature. Two 60-second Miller pieces will focus on "topical issues, the culture, and what Americans are talking about." Miller ended his daily show with Westwood two years ago. It ran for eight years. This new feature will be available January 22.

KOSI 101.1 (KOSI-FM/Denver) have announced that Jim Lawson has been appointed PD for KOSI 101.1, effective Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He replaces Andy Holt who leaves to program for WLYF and WMXJ in Miami.
