Last week during Bob Kingsley’s Acoustic Alley, Radio Ink awarded its 2020 class of top country program directors with their plaques, minutes before Garth Brooks took the stage. A big thanks to RJ Curtis, the entire team at CRS, Nan Kingsley, Fitz and our sponsor Sony Music Nashville.

On Thursday Mark Ramsey Media Managing Member Mark Ramsey presented new research to CRS 2020 attendees. The goal of his research was to help PD’s understand their audience better and to bust a few myths about the country radio listener. We caught up with Ramsey shortly after he made his presentation.

Ron Diaz and Ron Bennington were a wildly popular morning show back in the late '80s and early '90s. Based out of Tampa, the show grew to 15 affiliates before it all ended.

That’s what three of the most respected programmers in the Country format hope will happen. David Corey (WKLB Boston), Johnny Chiang (KKBQ Houston), and Nate Deaton (KRTY San Jose) all say their stations do not shy away from playing female artists and they hope this year the rest of the industry will follow their lead.

Thursday evening at The Omni Hotel in Downtown Nashville, Radio Ink and Sony Music Nashville will crown the Best Program Directors in Country Radio. The event will be held during Bob Kinsley’s Acoustic Alley at The Country Radio Seminar.

That’s one conclusion from a new study released by P1 Media Group and MRC Data/Nielsen Music. The study focused on the growth of country music on streaming platforms and how that’s impacting radio.

Jason Bailey’s Reatro Ventures has integrated its affiliate research tool, ARC Software, with Triton Digital. Users of the ARC platform can now live stream audio from any Triton-powered station directly within the ARC platform.
