NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith has penned an op-ed piece that appears in The Hill. It is part of the recently launched NAB campaign celebrating the First Amendment.

Tim Eby is no longer the GM at St. Louis Public Radio. He was fired Thursday over allegations of a “legacy of structural racism” at the station. Former NPR Board Vice Chair Tom Livingston has taken over as interim GM.

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple purchased a startup company called Scout FM which makes listening to podcasts more like tuning into radio stations. Apple is in a podcast battle with Spotify and other apps trying to dominate the podcast listening landscape.

Benztown will present Blizzard of Ozz 40th Anniversary Special, a celebration of Ozzy Osbourne’s debut album produced for Rock/Classic Rock stations to air on Halloween weekend. KLOS-FM PD Keith Cunningham produced the show. Matt Pinfield hosts.

Thanks to Michael Bloomberg's money Democrats are spending $6 million in the Sunshine State to criticize President Trump. $2 million will be spent on radio, $4 million on TV.

Alpha Media in North Dallas raised $52,000 from the 4th Annual Wheeler & Castellanos Back the Badge Memorial Golf Tournament. The money goes to the Texoma Back the Badge Foundation.

(By Mike Savage) The business model for public radio is under pressure. A drop in sponsor revenue has led to layoffs and furloughs at public radio stations across the country. Small and rural stations operate on the thinnest of margins in the best of times.

WBCN and The American Revolution, the documentary about Boston's famous 60's underground radio station, is helping Public Radio WHAV, Haverhill, MA. The filmmaker is offering the documentary to help pay for nonprofit local news reporting. 

Xperi has expanded DTS Connected Radio coverage throughout Italy in a partnership with FM-world, a streaming and aggregation platform for radio stations. The companies have completed and validated country-wide integration in Italy and plan to add more FM-world territories in other countries.
