Latest At-Home Listening Data Will Have Radio Saying TGIM

As the pandemic has forever disrupted where the world works, Edison Research has found a surprising flip-flop around at-home listening. When Edison Research began tracking in-home audio consumption, Mondays always had the lowest share of any weekday. Now, post-COVID, Monday has the most significant increase in at-home listening – up 30%.

Historically, Share of Ear data has shown at-home listening as representing approximately 50% of total audio time. The onset of the pandemic saw this rate surge to 60%, but those numbers have held fairly steady, even as most employees return to working totally in-person or on a hybrid schedule. The most recent data indicates a stabilization at 56%, suggesting the shift to remote work, even if temporary, has had a lasting impact on listening habits.

While Mondays have seen the most growth, the mid-week has suffered the most, with no growth on Wednesday and only minor changes on Thursdays. Tuesday and Fridays saw a 15% increase.
