“The Country Oldies” Show Turns 25

In 1994, an already highly regarded broadcast star began The Country Oldies Show from studios in New York City. Twenty-Five years later, 2019 Country Radio Hall of Fame nominee Steve Warren is still playing the country greats while seated in a studio in Long Island City as he hosts and produces his three-hour weekly show, syndicated nationwide and globally by Envision Networks.

“I guess when we first started the show, the country music world had tilted toward all the ‘hot, young, new’ artists. It was crazy,” said Steve Warren. “Since I started in Country radio very young, my career was parallel to many of the superstars of an earlier era. Now, every week, as I sit in our studio to produce the show, I feel like I’m in the company of old friends.”

Warren’s extensive resume includes stops at all NYC Country stations (WHN, WKHK and WYNY). He has programmed Country outlets WPTR in Albany, NY, and KKYX in San Antonio, and he designed and implemented the country channels for Sirius Satellite Radio.
