The Boston Sports Talk team from 98.5 The Sports Hub have won the Major Market category of Barrett Sports Media’s fourth annual “Top 20 Local Sports Radio Morning Shows of 2018.” Barrett tapped 51 radio executives from 30 U.S cities and 13 different companies to establish their rankings. The awards are split up into Major Markets (1-20) and Mid Markets (21-100).

WEEI/Boston’s Kirk and Callahan claimed the top spot last year, wrestling it away from WFAN/New York’s Boomer & Carton which had won the award the previous two years.

Barrett Sports Media President Jason Barrett said, “Our executive committee took notice this year of the consistent production of Toucher and Rich. Fred and Rich have been an integral part of the Sports Hub’s success, and their stability and results resonated with our voters, earning them top billing among major market morning shows for 2018.”

Rounding out the Top 5 were Boomer & Gio of WFAN (New York), the Musers of Sports Radio 96.7/1310 The Ticket (Dallas-Fort Worth), Angelo Cataldi of WIP (Philadelphia), and The Sports Junkies of 106.7 The Fan in Washington DC.

In the Mid-Market category, Bernie Miklasz of 101 ESPN in St. Louis continued his reign at the top, earning his third straight first place finish. The St. Louis morning host finished comfortably ahead of runner up Ken Carman and Anthony Lima of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland.

Positions 3-5 were claimed by JOX Roundtable of WJOX, The Fan Morning Show of 93.7 The Fan, and The Morning Animals of WWLS The Sports Animal 98.1.
