The FCC’s Clyburn Resigns

And this came as a total surprise at Tuesday’s FCC meeting. Mignon Clyburn served for nearly nine years, including a brief stint as acting chair. She seemed to be frustrated with the direction Chairman Pai was taking the FCC.

Clyburn was appointed by President Barack Obama in the early days of his first term.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai tweeted: “Congratulations to @MClyburnFCC on your distinguished tenure at the @FCC, including serving as 1st woman to lead the agency! You leave behind a rich legacy and many friends. Godspeed and thank you for your public service.”

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith said, “Mignon Clyburn has served the Commission with distinction, dedication and humility over the past eight years. She has been a passionate voice on behalf of consumers and a champion of diversity in the media marketplace during her tenure. NAB and America’s broadcasters wish Commissioner Clyburn well on her future path.”

FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel said Commissioner Clyburn has been a forceful advocate for change, for equal opportunity, and for closing the digital divide. “It was a privilege to support her history-making leadership as Acting Chairwoman. It has been an honor to work alongside her to put consumers first and bring connectivity to those at greatest risk of being left behind—urban, rural, and everywhere in between. I am proud to have worked together with her to support net neutrality and grateful to have been her partner in her unwavering work to remedy the grave injustice of exorbitant prison phone rates.  As she departs this agency, she should know her legacy is intact because so many who work on communications policy will continue to be guided by her outstanding example. I consider myself among them.”

  1. With All your Respect, All the FCC’s executives must resign! They are a toxic nuisance to the well being of our radio airwaves!

The Radio Air waves belongs to the people! Not to the elite, and The FCC’s Executives, including the Chairman, must serve the people’s best interests and not the Big Corporation $$$ Real Evil Interests!

When third party private interests influence the people who are in charge of the people AIRWAVES, you get a huge opportunity for corruption at levels ever seeing by the American Public!

The Commercial and Non Commercial Radio license owners, they both lobby, every day for more, and more radio concessions, more power, more merges, more signals, more translators, more of every thing, yet the Radio industry, every day, is serving less and less of its primary purpose: The People.

When you have a person who was part of a Huge Private corporation as the head of the FCC, who do you think this person will side with when taking the big FCC’s Decisions?
The People? The Listeners? The Audience? Hell no! He Will side with the elite!

He will side on With the guys who already own thousands of radio venues. Radio stations who are automatized as dying zombies with little or no human interaction!

If Radio stations are not serving their compromise to serve society with local content, those radio licenses may and must be revoked, so other people could make a better use of them.

If you have a huge tornado, earth quake, or any other natural disaster, and if people are listening to their favorite automated terrestrial radio signal with no real Dj’s on site, No Real people on site, Real people will need to be there to interrupt programming to inform the audience of an emergency?
if instead your radio station is an automated jukebox who is playing endless music,By the time the listener searches the dial for updated information, They already may be death!!

This is only one of many examples of why, The FCC is not fulfilling the purpose its was meant for.
To Protects the Radio Air Waves for the People’s Best Interests!

The FCC needs a complete overhaul!!

The FCC’s Granted radio licenses, despite if the licensees paid millions for the right to broadcast on those signals, they belong to the public, and those signals may be returned to the people if the licensees are not making a good use of them! A good use that fulfills the Radio Mission: To Serve the people!!

If the FCC’s Top Executive’s are not fulfilling their job to serve the Common people, They Need to be fired on the spot!!!!
