Spotify Agrees to Pay $45 Million To End Lawsuit

The streaming service has reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit brought by Melissa Ferrick and David Lowery. The suit involves songwriters and publishers whose compositions the service streamed without a license. Spotify will set up a $43.45 million fund to be paid out to the publishers and songwriters for Spotify’s previous infringement on their works. The agreement must still be approved by the court.
