The season for giving has radio firing on all charity cylinders. This time it’s News Radio 1200 WOAI San Antonio, in conjunction with North Star Mall, which held a radiothon and silent auction on December 3 and 4, raising a record-breaking $243,034. The funds will benefit the Elf Louise Christmas Project, a local non-profit organization that purchases and delivers toys during the holiday season for Bexar County’s less fortunate children. It’s estimated that the proceeds will help put a smile on 25,000 little faces. WOAI led the effort, with help from fellow iHeartMedia San Antonio on-air personalities.
Louise Locker, the woman behind the Elf Louise Christmas Project, told the station, “I can’t begin to thank you enough. The spirit was amazing and kept everyone going. So many children will have a happier Christmas this year, thanks to all of you!”
