TechCrunch is reporting that Spotify will go live in Japan before the end of September. The tech blog says that Spotify Premium will cost around 1,000 yen (close to $10). The launch has been a little on the slow side. Spotify’s Tokyo office has been open for 18 months and it has been hiring there for two years. Why? Japanese consumers still prefer to buy CDs and there’s still resistance to streaming and other online models from record labels. TechCrunch reports annual music sales in Japan at about $3 billion.
