McCurdy Joins Beasley’s Corporate Team

Beasley Media Group has hired former Katz Executive Bob McCurdy as VP of Sales. McCurdy has held sales and management positions in Chicago, Minneapolis, and New York, where he became President of Katz Radio in 1990. McCurdy will be based in the Corporate Headquarters in Naples, Florida.

Nessa Launches Nationwide

Benztown will syndicate Nessa (pictured), who hosts afternoon drive on Hot-97/WQHT-FM in New York City. She's also a host on MTV and MTV2. The new radio show is a five-hour Monday through Friday show produced for CHR, Rhythmic CHR and Urban stations and designed to air in any day part.

Beck’s Team Responds To SiriusXM Suspension

Syndicted radio host Glenn Beck was splashed all over the national news Tuesday after SiriusXM suspended his show for the rest of the week. With Beck on vacation, the show's GM Dom Theodore issued a statement on his behalf. Theodore says Beck will be back on SiriusXM Monday morning when he'll address the issue. He also says Beck has never advocated violence and this entire incident is a "viral hatchet job." Premiere has no plans to suspend Beck from his radio show. Here's more from Theodore...

After an ugly breakup with the old Cumulus regime, the Paul Finebaum Show launched on ESPN Radio August 12, 2013. Beginning August 12 of this year, ESPN Radio will syndicate the show, making it available to radio stations all over the country.

Macy’s, Lowe’s Big Chart Jumpers

Of course the Home Depot was radio's number one advertiser, according to the latest Media Monitors chart. The home improvement big box aired over 62,000 commercials on radio stations all across the country. Macy's moved up from 15th to 2nd, airing 34,624 commercials. Rounding out the top five were GEICO with 34,525 spots, the United States Department of Transportation with 32,992, and Lowe's moving into the top five from 11th with 30,635.

FOX Sports 980 in Albany, NY, is also shuffling around its sports talk lineup. The Tred Show with local host Tred Hulse (pictured), slides into afternoon drive, pushing the Jay Mohr Show into the 6 to 9 slot. After previously being delayed an hour, the Dan Patrick Show will now broadcast live from 9 a.m. to Noon, and Colin Cowherd is added to the station from Noon to 3.
