AutoZone Makes Big Move On Radio Chart
The Auto Parts Superstore jumped from 34th to third on the Media Monitors weekly chart last week by airing 25,180 commercials on radio stations all across the country. GEICO was number one with 47,494, followed by Walgreens with 28,981. Rounding out the top five were McDonald's (25,162) and Staples (24,981).
KABC Takes Home The Gold
Cumulus Media’s 790 KABC was honored for broadcast news excellence with Three Golden Mike Awards from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California, on Saturday. The Golden Mike's are Southern California's most prestigious broadcast-journalism prize.
And Westwood’s Roope Also Wins a Golden Mike
Westwood One News was the network radio winner of a Golden Mike. The award was for LA correspondent Jim Roope’s report from last July 9 on the LAPD graduation. Snoop Dog, The Game, and Black Lives Matter members attended to open a dialogue to end the violence immediately following the Dallas police shootings.

The radio marketing company has been recognized by the March of Dimes as winner of its regional Humanitarian Award for volunteerism, mission awareness, and philanthropic efforts. The award, as part of the Connecticut-Western Massachusetts Chapter’s “Spirit of Giving,” is given to a corporate sponsor and was presented to CRN Executive VP and partner Dick Kalt.
Williams Returning To Windy City Weekday Afternoons
John Williams will return to Chicago’s WGN Radio as a weekday host from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will remain in the Saturday lineup from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The show launches March 13.
KINK’s Sheila Hamilton Wins Life Award
Hamilton, who is the KINK-FM Morning Music Run co-host in Portland, will receive the prestigious Judy Cushing Celebrating Life Award during the Always Hope 2017 Gala to benefit Lines for Life on Friday, February 24 at the Sentinel Hotel.
CRS, Hall Team up For Cocktails
Thanks to the CRS and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, a cocktail reception will be offered for the second consecutive year at CRS 2017. The reception, which will take place Thursday, Feb. 23rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will be held in the museum’s Hall of Fame Rotunda.
