(By Bob McCurdy) I met with the owner of three car dealerships last week to recap the past month’s sales results and determine how we might continue to refine his on-air schedule and modify his creative. As it should be with all our clients, this an ongoing process.

Since Mary Berner took over as Cumulus Media CEO nearly two years ago, one of the company's main goals has been to improve the ratings. After all, Cumulus owns quite a few of radio's most recognizable brands, including WPLJ and WABC in New York, WLS in Chicago, KGO in San Francisco, and WMAL in Washington, DC.

KMVQ-FM midday talent Shan Berries has been re-upped at San Francisco CBS RADIO station 99.7 NOW! (KMVQ). Program Director Michael Martin had this to say about Shan: “Shan is an incredible talent. She walks (more like runs) into the station every day with a smile on her face ready to attack."

Jim Day is the new Executive Producer for Bob and Marianne in the Morning at WRRM-FM, Warm 98.5 in Cincinnati. Day, a veteran morning show personality and producer, has over 25 years’ radio experience and was previously morning host for several stations.

Radio Ink's #1 Leader of 2017 is receiving more accolades. The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group has named NRG Media Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mary Quass the 2017 MIW Trailblazer. 

According to the ABC-TV affiliate WGOW-FM morning show co-host Jim Reynolds has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse. A police affidavit states Reynolds, his wife and daughter got into an altercation over the daughter's phone use.

Charlie Huero has signed a new multi-year agreement as afternoon host and APD at CBS Radio's KOOL-FM in Phoenix. Huero began his run at KOOL-FM in 2011 when he was appointed APD and midday host. He's also worked in La Crosse, Milwaukee, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Antonio.

Paul Cannell is the new PD at Alt 92.3 /WZRH-FM and NASH FM 106.1/WRK in New Orleans. Cannell has worked as a PD and host for stations in Wilmington, NC, Columbia, SC, Richmond, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. He was also Digital Managing Editor for WKBU, New Orleans, and for Townsquare Media’s six stations in Shreveport.

While it may sometimes feel like we are limited in what we can do, we have a responsibility to move the radio industry forward.
