On-Air Appointments At WJXA-FM Nashville

The station has named two new members to the Mix Morning Show team.  Brandon O’Brien, former PD/afternoon drive host at WUSH-FM/Norfolk, and Ricki Smith, recently the AM drive co-host on WARH-FM/St. Louis, will join current Producer/co-host Clint Redwine in morning drive beginning August 21. Following the realignment, veteran co-host Anna Marie will transition to nights.  

CBS Confirms Entercom Merger On Track

During its Q2 earnings call Monday night, CBS Executives confirmed its deal to merge the CBS radio stations with Entercom is on track to close in the fourth quarter. The company said the SEC has approved the deal and now both companies are only waiting on approval from the Department of Justice.

Atsinger Says Salem Is Ready To Grow

After completing a refinance that brought down the leverage of the company, Salem Media CEO Ed Atsinger says the company is on the lookout for tuck-in acquisitions that do not increase the company's leverage. He also said translators were big for the company with 12 already up and running and 15 more in the pipeline ready to be turned on. Atsinger did say there are very few translators left for purchase in the markets Salem operates.

Salem Q2 Broadcast Revenue Drops 1.4%

Total revenue for the company decreased 2.5% to $66.1. Broadcast revenue decreased 1.4% to $49.3 million, digital revenue decreased 1.6% to $10.9 million and publishing revenue decreased 11.3% to $6.0 million. One of Salem's biggest drags on revenue is KLTY in Dallas, where revenue is down 20% after years of ratings declines.

KDAY To Stay On As Raiders’ Station In LA

The Oakland Raiders and 93.5 KDAY have agreed that the station will continue to be the exclusive FM broadcaster for the team in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The station will broadcast coverage of the Silver and Black’s regular season and postseason games and carry exclusive Raiders content and coverage.

Entercom Investing $9.7 Million in DGital

That's according to an SEC filing on Friday. Entercom announced it had purchased a 45% stake in DGital without revealing how much the investment was. The filing also says under the terms of the agreement, Entercom obtained an option to acquire the remaining ownership interest in DGital in 2021. DGital Media was launched in May of 2015 by former DialGlobal/Westwood One co-CEOs Spencer Brown and David Landau.

The trial between former KYGO morning man David Mueller and Taylor Swift is set to begin this week. Mueller says he's being falsely accused of putting his hand under Swift's dress during a backstage meet and greet in 2013. He says the accusation led to him being fired by management and he's seeking $3 million.
