The Washington Post and WBUR (NPR Boston) are partnering to produce the podcast The Edge of Fame, hosted by Washington Post National Arts Reporter Geoff Edgers. Blending in-depth interviews with revealing field recordings, Edgers delivers intimate, surprising audio portraits of actors, musicians, and comedians: both established performers and up-and-comers on the scene. Each episode will be dedicated to one performer who Edgers has shadowed for a significant amount of time, including director Ava DuVernay, performer “Weird Al” Yankovic, TV host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel, and more.

“Geoff is a master interviewer who knows how to draw out the most unexpected and insightful information from anyone he profiles,” said Jessica Stahl, director of audio at The Washington Post. “We’re excited to partner with WBUR, one of the most talented and respected podcast producers in the business, to bring a new audience into Geoff’s conversations.”

“We have been fans of Geoff’s engaging reporting for a long time, starting from his early days in Boston,” said Iris Adler, Executive Director for Programming and Podcasts at WBUR. “We are thrilled to now collaborate with him and The Post to produce these rich, narrative profiles, bringing to the podcast the audio production qualities public radio is known for.”
