FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has appointed Eric Burger to serve as the agency’s Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Burger will advise Pai and the agency on technology and engineering issues, together with the Office of Engineering and Technology.

The changes are at Louisville Public Media, which operates 89.3 WFPL News Louisville, the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, and the Ohio Valley ReSource. Erica Peterson, WFPL’s environment reporter since 2011, has been promoted to assignment editor. Two other changes have also been announced.

Beasley Media's Mike West is the morning show host at 102.7 The Coyote in Las Vegas. Mike and about a half dozen other Beasley employees were at the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night when the shooting took place. Radio Ink Editor Ed Ryan interviewed Mike about what he saw -- LISTEN HERE.

Everybody is trying to do anything they can to help the victims of the deadly shooting in Las Vegas, from donating to a GoFundMe account to giving blood. No doubt radio stations across the country will start their own fundraisers and events to help. That's what radio does. Here's a list of how others in the radio industry plan to cover this still unfolding news story...

A GoFundMe page that will provide relief and financial support to the victims and families has been set up by Las Vegas authorities. The current goal is set at $1,000,000. Beasley Media's Community of Caring Initiative will donate $5,000 dollars to the fund, and the company is encouraging listeners to donate as well. Beasley owns six radio stations in Las Vegas.

The CW Network is delaying its planned two-night broadcast of the iHeartRadio Music Festival following the Las Vegas shooting. The event was held Sept. 22 and 23 in Las Vegas and was set to be broadcast this Wednesday and Thursday as part of the CW's fall launch.

Ajit Pai was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve his second 5-year term. The term is retroactive to include the last year and runs through June 2021. The final vote to confirm the 44-year-old Pai was 52 to 41. The FCC Chairman released the following statement after being confirmed...

Media Monitors is reporting that both ABC and NBC made the top five of their weekly chart of radio advertisers. ABC was second airing 37,679 commercials on radio stations all across the country while NBC was fifth airing 30,927 spots.
