ESPN is shutting down ESPN Deportes radio on September 8. Ten full-time and 25 part-time employees will be let go. ESPN will close Deportes Radio’s Coral Gables, FL, offices. Some of its New York-based sales employees also will be affected. Deportes launched on October 5, 2005. The format was on 44 affiliate stations.

Tampa’s 102.5 The Bone has signed personality Mike Calta to a new multi-year contract. Calta hosts The Mike Calta Show in morning drive. Originally from Staten Island, Calta moved to Tampa in 1989 and joined The Bone in 2007.

WTOP/Washington, DC, took home 14 Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards over the weekend, including Outstanding News Operation and Best Website for WTOP.com.

Keith Memoly is the new PD at CMG's WDBO and ESPN 580 in Orlando. Memoly replaces Drew Anderssen who took the PD job at WSB in Atlanta back in January.

Chris Moreau is the new VP/Market Manager for Cumulus' cluster of five stations in the Green Bay market. Moreau joins Cumulus Green Bay from Cumulus Appleton/Oshkosh, where he was D.O.S. for five stations.

KPBS/San Diego has launched San Diego News Matters, a daily, local news podcast for the San Diego and Imperial counties. San Diego news veteran Deb Welsh weaves together original news and features covering a wide spectrum of topic areas.

Westwood One and TV and radio personality Elaina Smith have announced the rebrand and return of Elaina’s original podcast, Breaking Thru With Elaina (formerly Women Want to Hear Women with Elaina Smith). The show returns with new stories from female artists breaking through in the music industry.

You may recall Steve Jones left ABC Radio back in March to take a position with Skyview. On Monday, ABC News President James Goldston made the announcement that Stacia Philips Deshishku has been promoted to Jones' former position of VP and General Manager.
