We got our first look at Q3 earnings Tuesday and Townsquare leads off quite nicely for the radio industry. The company is hitting on all cylinders. Ad revenue increased, digital revenue was up, and net leverage is down.
Why Mike Francesa Is Ending WFAN Show
No replacement was announced by Entercom and the company says Francesa will have an expanded role on Radio.com. On his show Tuesday Francesa said not having to do a daily radio show will allow him to spend more time with his kids who will all be in High School.
Zomorodi Perfect Fit For TED Radio Hour
Manoush Zomorodi is the new host of TED Radio Hour, which is carried on more than 600 public radio stations and is one of the top podcasts in the world. Since 2013, the show has been hosted by Guy Raz, who announced his departure in July.
After 27 Years Mike McMearty Exits WTOP
In a memo to the WTOP staff, McMearty, who was Director of News & Programming since June of 2015, said "many of you weren’t born when I started as an overnight AE." McMearty began his run at WTOP in 1992 working 9 p.m to 5 a.m. as Assistant Editor.
