Third quarter earnings season is underway with SiriusXM the first audio company to report. For July, August and September the satellite company reported revenue of $2.2 billion, an increase of 9% over Q3 2020.

At Pandora ad revenue increased 32% to $404 million. The increase was aided by the purchase of Stitcher in Q4 of 2020. Monthly Active Users at Pandora were down, ad-supported listener hours were down and premium subscribers were down.

The Indiana Broadcasters Association held its annual “Spectrum” Awards this week and named WOWO 2021 Station of the Year for Radio Market 1, which includes Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and South Bend. WOWO’s Kayla Blakeslee also won the Best Investigative Reporting award for her Blakeslee at the Border series.

New Country 93.1 WDRQ-FM Detroit is presenting a free concert to help make Christmas a bit brighter for Motor City children. The station will start giving away tickets November 1 for the December 9 New Country Acoustic Christmas concert.

In an interview with Amplifi Media CEO Steve Goldstein, Gordon Borrell says podcasting and digital are the future. He says that's where all the advertising money is going - and will continue to go. Radio, Borrell adds, needs to change with the times.
