Student broadcasters from nearly a thousand institutions worldwide are about to compete for a new title. The International Student Broadcasting Championship has opened its 2026 competition spanning radio, podcasting, digital content, and esports broadcasting.
Founded in 2023 by Australia-based RAMP Media, ISBC has grown into a global platform with participation from close to 1,000 institutions worldwide. Co-founders Phillip Vinciullo and Annwen Burrows built the competition around student development, pairing entrants with an international panel of working media professionals for feedback alongside the judging itself.
Shock Radio, the student station at England’s University of Salford, enters this cycle as the defending Station of the Year champion after what ISBC called the most competitive year in the event’s history. Last year, student broadcasters from a dozen countries took home honors.
Entries open September 1 and close October 30, with the global judging panel and the public People’s Choice vote running November 9 through November 20. The competition wraps with its Grand Finale on November 27, when finalists and winners are celebrated. Students and educators can register and submit entries via the ISBC website.
