SmileyAudioMedia, Inc. has announced the syndication of its flagship program, Tavis Smiley. Equity Media’s WBOK-AM in New Orleans will be the first to pick up the program outside of its flagship on Los Angeles’ KBLA-AM.

Tavis Smiley offers programming to address the needs of African American and progressive listeners. In a release, SmileyAudioMedia says more stations are scheduled to be added after the Labor Day holiday.

Smiley stated, “We’re excited to bring our radio program to listeners across America. Our innovative programming with groundbreaking, exclusive interviews has filled a void for African American and progressive listeners in Southern California and soon in markets throughout the United States.”

Smiley, Managing Editor of the daily show and owner of SmileyAudioMedia, will maintain his role. Smiley continues to extend his brand despite being embroiled in trouble for the past several years, from his dismissal from PBS over sexual harassment claims to a Ukrainian group trying to block his acquisition of KBLA over the seller’s potential ties to Russia.
