Boy Donates Piggy Bank Full of Money

Thanks to Hubbard’s WIRK in West Palm for sharing this heart warming story. During the first of a two day Hubbard Bahama Relief Drive, WIRK’s Tim Leary and Chelsea Taylor were stopped in their tracks live on the air when a mini-van pulled up and out of his car seat came 4yr. old Andrew Dedrick with his full piggy bank. He handed it over saying that he wanted to help the people of the Bahamas.

Leary said, “Everything stopped when Andrew handed us his piggy bank. When we asked him on the air why he did this he said that their houses were broken. (And this was to fix them…)”

His mom also said that he wanted to have kids buy new toys. “This kid’s pile of quarters and nickels are worth absolute millions! A moment of the outpouring and heartfelt giving that is going on in this community right now for those in need!”

Taylor added, “It was truly amazing to see such a young child grasp that someone else that he’s never met was hurting, and he needed to figure out how he could help. It left us all feeling hopeful for the future with kids like Andrew in it.”

The second day of the Hubbard Relief Drive continues Thursday morning and runs until 6p outside of the Hubbard Radio studios in West Palm. At the end of day one, two box trucks had been entirely filled with listener donations.
