Candidate Booker “Steals” From Radio

South Carolina radio vet Rhonda Rawlings has joined the campaign staff of Democratic presidential hopeful Cory Booker, according to The State. Rawlings is a well known in the Greenville area. She will take up the role of South Carolina Communications Director. For 10 years, Rawlings has been the News and Community Affairs Director for Summit Media, reading news and public announcements on Urban station WJMZ and its sister channel WHZT in Williamston.

The New York native studied radio, television, and film at Temple University, and worked in TV in Los Angeles before moving to radio.

Rawlings has also served as a local producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show and the host and producer of two Sunday morning shows, Pause For the Cause on WJMZ and Hot Topics on WHZT. Rawlings was a recipient of the Merit Award for Radio Reporter of the Year in 2011, 2015, and 2018 from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.
