Former GAB President “Lanny” Finch Passes

Former Georgia Association of Broadcasters president Ellis Lanier “Lanny” Finch passed away the morning of June 22 following serious surgery.

Finch was a longtime GAB board member, GAB board Chairman, GAB Director of Sales, and later on, the President of the GAB. He twice revised the state of Georgia’s Emergency Alert System Plan and proudly helped create the state Levi’s Calls for missing children. The GAB scholarship that bears his name has distributed over $75,000 in scholarships since being redesigned under his presidency in 2003. Finch was inducted into the GAB Hall of Fame in 2007. 

A Memorial Service will held on Tuesday, June 26 at 10 a.m. at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville, Highway Tucker, GA, 30084. The family will host a reception for family and friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the GAB E. Lanier Finch Scholarship Program or to the University Libraries Annual Giving Capstone Fund at the University of Alabama.
