Veteran sports radio executive Eric Spitz is leaving CBS Sports Radio and joining SiriusXM as VP of Sports Programming. Spitz will be involved in the daily operation of SiriusXM’s sports channels, including the hiring of talent, programming development and live sports scheduling. Spitz begins July 16 and he’ll report to Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming.

Spitz comes to SiriusXM with more than three decades of experience in sports radio.  Prior to joining SiriusXM he had been the program director for CBS Sports Radio since 2012, overseeing programming that airs on more than 300 stations nationwide.  He began his career as a desk assistant at WFAN in New York in 1987, when the station first signed on the air, and ascended the producer ranks to be become the station’s assistant program director.  In 2002, Spitz was named Vice President, Operations and Programming for Westwood One’s Shadow/Metro Traffic, and held that position for three years before returning to WFAN as the station’s program director in 2005.  He has also produced Westwood One’s live coverage for five Olympic Games.
