Ruckus On Radio Row

Boys will be boys, as the saying goes. It was not a proud moment for radio Wednesday on Radio Row at The Mall of America, although it certainly is getting two sports radio hosts a ton of national publicity. The incident resulted in iHeartMedia’s sports station getting kicked off Radio Row. A question for managers around the country: Is this good publicity?

iHeartMedia Houston morning man Josh Innes, who’s become known for stunts like this, got into it with Entercom’s Houston morning co-host Seth Payne, Wednesday morning. The Houston Chronicle blames Innes, calling him an attention-grabbing instigator. Innes says Payne called Innes’ producer over to his table and started calling Innes names.

Innes shared THIS AUDIO from his show with Radio Ink which details exactly how the incident started. The New York Post has the video, of the verbal brawl, which followed the audio, HERE.

As a result of what happened iHeartMedia’s SportsTalk 790 (KBME) in Houston was booted from Radio Row.

The Houston Chronicle‘s John McClain was a guest on Payne’s show (which he hosts with Mike Meltser on Entercom’s SportsRadio 610 KILT). He tweeted about the incident and got so irritated with the situation he left in the middle of his segment.

CBS Radio fired Innes in 2016 when he worked the afternoon drive shift at WIP in Philadelphia over a fake caller incident. He was eventually hired by iHeartMedia in Houston and now hosts the morning show at SportsTalk KBME.

The Mall of America is where all the radio stations covering the Super Bowl are broadcasting from this week.

  1. What a joke. Who cares about either of these guys. It proves that there are still plenty of people in the media who have no idea what a true professional. Acting like this gives a black eye to those who get it done right, everyday…..Pitiful and embarrassing.

  2. 790 KBME is the iheartmedia station. Josh Innes is a hack who can only get attention by calling people racist names and violating rules (got his station kicked out of Texans training and now radio row). He’s a small time Howard Stern wannabe who only has a job in radio because of his daddy.
