The Phoenix Country station’s morning show hosts Chris Matthews and Nina D., along with Packages From Home, asked Valley residents to write 53,000 “Thank You” letters to the troops this holiday season in an effort called “Chris & Nina’s Big Thank You.” This is the third year that KMLE has collected holiday greetings for U.S. troops stationed overseas. Packages From Home provides food, personal care, and recreational items to deployed American troops, at no cost to them.
“We set our goal high this year,” said Matthews. “Last year we asked for 20,000 letters and raised over 53,000! This year we wanted to collect at least 53,000 letters, and we are pleased to announce that we did it.”
“Being away from your family and friends for the holidays is tough,” added Nina D. “The 53,000 letters are going to help brighten the holidays for our troops. We cannot thank the KMLE Nation enough for getting in the holiday spirit and writing letters to our troops. We truly have the best listeners.”
