  1. In our survey we asked about SMB usage 60+ different channels including direct mail, other traditional media and digital media. We then combine categories and for social it is the highest – in the social category is several products (free and paid like ads, newsfeed, pages, video) on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat and includes blogs and other social media sites. The reason it’s high is that social has free and paid, is DIY and easy to use so a lot of SMBs use it. Direct mail is still part of the SMB mix and does get used with digital media the average SMB uses multiple channels to advertise. In fact in our survey SMBs who say they use Direct mail also use other channels, and direct mail SMBs – nearly 50% have a Facebook page!

  2. Hey Ed?

A little misleading. Headline sounds like 77% of small businesses “according to BIA Kelsey” advertise the most with social media. In fact, very misleading.

This could mean the business owner sends emails, has a Facebook page or texts. Big deal.
Study the real, extremely lo-tech advertising dollar-getter…..Direct Mail.
