The Friends of KPLU have submitted a Letter of Intent to Pacific Lutheran University to purchase the radio station. The Friends of KPLU have been raising money to purchase the station and have accumulated 13,000 donations and $4.4 million so far. They have a deadline of June 30 to raise the total amount needed.

There are still radio stations out there creating compelling, important, award-winning, original local news content. KCBS in San Francisco is certainly one of them, and behind the hard work of reporter Doug Sovern (pictured here), the station recently uncovered a big story in San Francisco and, in reporting it to its listeners, put radio's specialty, theatre-of-the-mind, on display.

The Board of Directors of the New York State Broadcasters Association has announced that Yankees broadcasters John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, and WDOE sports director and morning show host Dan Palmer will be going into their Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place at a luncheon, Friday, June 10, at the Conrad Hotel in New York City. Here are more details on the three radio inductees.

The Detroit News is reporting that former state Rep. Todd Courser is getting a one-hour show on Superstation 910AM WFDF. Courser, who starts his show this Saturday, is attempting a political comeback. He had to resign from the Michigan House of Representatives after the Detroit News exposed his failed attempt to cover up an extramarital affair with former Rep. Cindy Gamrat. Triton Digital has signed a partnership deal with Cyber Communications, a subsidiary of advertising agency Dentsu, which is headquartered in Tokyo. This agreement will allow Triton to bring its online audio advertising exchange, a2x, to Japan. a2x enables programmatic buying of targeted online and mobile audio ad inventory.

CBS RADIO Las Vegas has announced the promotion of JB King to Operations Manager for its six-station cluster, which includes 98.5 KLUC, Mix 94.1, X107.5, Q100, NewsTalk 840 AM KXNT, and CBS Sports Radio 1140 AM. King will also continue as Program Director for both 98.5 KLUC and Q100.

Sean Hannity will continue airing on Beasley's AM 720 KDWN through 2019. Hannity started airing on KDWN in February, 2015. He brought his show An Evening with Sean Hannity to Las Vegas and has broadcast from the KDWN studio several times during the current campaign season.

98.5 KLUC Las Vegas announced Tuesday that John Moug has been named the new Afternoon Drive host airing weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. Longtime KLUC afternoon host, JB King was recently promoted to Operations Manager for CBS Radio Las Vegas.

Galaxy Communications has been honored with three awards from the New York State Broadcasters Association. Galaxy is locally owned and operated with studios in downtown Syracuse and downtown Utica, NY.

Lee Hammer is the Operations Manager for four Cumulus AM stations in San Francisco (KNBR, KTCT, KGO, KSFO) and Program Director of KNBR and KTCT. He's been in radio for 36 years and 19 as a Program Director. While his focus is on all sports stations, because of his news background at KCBS the company added KGO and KSFO to his list of responsibilities.
